Meet the Doctors

Learn Who We Are

  • Dr.
    Richard Olson

I was born outside of Tokyo, Japan (my father was in the U.S. Air Force) and came to the United States early in my childhood. I’ve lived throughout the United States and settled in Southern Wisconsin when my father retired.

Early on, I knew I was called to be a healer/doctor. I graduated from University of Wisconsin – Madison majoring in biochemistry and minoring in genetics. I quickly became frustrated with the western medicine model of “health” care taught in traditional “med school” and sought an alternative that truly addressed how to regain and maintain true health through the inherent ability of the human body to heal and be healthy if given the opportunity and proper guidance.

I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in December, 1989 and started practice in Green Bay shortly after. Eventually I partnered with a naturopath outside of Madison and practiced chiropractic and nutrition in a true health and wellness clinic. I raised four healthy and vibrant children in this setting and am now looking forward to bringing my skills and experience to northern Wisconsin.

I am excited to join the team at Advanced Health and feel I will compliment the cutting edge level of patient care found at the clinic. I believe in providing exceptional care from “cradle to grave” and facilitating a true “quality of life” by meeting and exceeding your health and wellness goals. I truly believe that the “sky's the limit” when it comes to what the human body is capable of and look forward to accompanying you on your journey to better health.

  • Dr. Jonathan Cotter, MD

Jonathan Cotter grew up in New York City. He attended Oberlin College, where he completed a Psychobiology major, (and extra-curricular studies in music). After college, he studied Hsing-I Ch’uan internal Kung Fu, and was licensed as an instructor. His studies under Sifu Mike Patterson included tuina and acupuncture, and he went on to attend California Acupuncture College. He completed his Doctorate in Oriental Medicine, and was licensed in Chinese acupuncture and herbal medicine.

He married Peggy in 1992, after which time he and his family went to the American University of the Caribbean, where he received his Master’s degree in Medical Science and his M.D. in 2001, (having completed most of his clinical training rotations in England). He completed his Family Practice Residency (University of Wisconsin, Wausau) and has been Board-certified since 2006. He has worked as a family practitioner, Emergency Room physician, and acupuncturist. Currently he is studying Functional Medicine and serving as a physician. Peggy and their five children live on a hobby farm, where Peggy practices and teaches permaculture and sustainable farming, (and does permaculture design projects and feeds everyone very well). Jon, Peggy, and their children are born-again Christians.

  • DR.
    BRIAN HANSEN

Dr. Hansen is originally from Washington Island, a small community in Door County, WI. His father worked as an insurance agent and his mother was a second grade school teacher. He chose to become a chiropractor after suffering a spinal injury riding on a “chicken bus” while he was a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala. After returning to the U.S., Dr. Hansen visited an excellent chiropractor and received his very first adjustment.

    IDA ALLEN-BERGMAN

Today our society is more nutritionally deficient than ever. People are lead to believe that what they are consuming will not have an effect on their health, yet nutrition related degenerative diseases continue to plague our society. In order to heal the body from afflictions of improper nutrition, one must understand the importance of an individualized nutritional program. Just as each individual is unique, each individual's healing cycle is also unique.

General adaptations are taking place in our society every day. The human body adapts to stress whether it is physical, chemical, or mental. How our bodies handle these stressors is what is concerning. What triggers adaptations such as heart disease, diabetes, syndrome X, etc.? What makes one athlete perform better than another? Why do some people get cancer and others with similar backgrounds do not? Over the years I have only found one true answer to all of the above questions and it is derived from an individual's level of nutrition.

Testimonials

Reviews By Our Satisfied Patients

  • "Amazing. After two weeks on the program I noticed sleep every night and fell asleep right away. Pain started leaving my body fairly quickly. I have way more energy; even if I don’t get a full night sleep I still have energy for the day. My thought process has improved so much! I can think and not forget things I’m told. I eat better therefore I don’t have any stomach issues. I’m so thankful and grateful to Ashley for her help, knowledge, and concern for each individual. Praise God for knowledge!!"
